City Tour in Cusco

We will start our City Tour in Cusco by picking you up from your hotel to transfer to the Temple of the Sun or Qoricancha, where we will make a tour of this imposing structure that, according to history, served as a connection base between the 4 suyos (Antisuyo, Contisuyo, Chinchaysuyo, and Collasuyo).

After that, we will start with the famous 4 ruins tour heading to Sacsayhuaman, one of the most emblematic places of the Inca Empire. Certainly, it is a structure made of huge carved stones, approximately 9 meters high and weighing at least 100 tons, According to some studies, it is mentioned that it may have had religious purposes due to the way it was built and defensive purposes because of its strategic location and the great view it offers of the entire Cusco City.

Subsequently, we will visit the Archaeological Park of Qenqo, a center of cults and ceremonies dedicated to Mother Earth. Certainly, history says that this was an amphitheater of cults where the Inca dead were placed for ceremonies, and the dead were laid on the trapezoid structures found there.

Our next stop will be Puca Pucara known as “Red Fort”. This is due to the stones with which it was built having become this color due to their high iron levels. In addition, other archaeological structures such as aqueducts, enclosures, and fountains can be seen. Because of its proximity to Tambomachay and its characteristics, it is believed that it constituted a strong military defense of this place.

Finally, our last place to visit on the Cusco city tour will be Tambomachay, this place is made from carved rocks, which form a beautiful set of canals and waterfalls coming from springs. Most importantly, Tambomachay was a place of worship of water.
